Our History

The Eliot United Methodist Church at 238 Harold Dow Highway was formed in 1984, when our current building at this address was completed.

In the early 1980s, the East Eliot United Methodist Church and the South Eliot United Methodist Church were finding the upkeep and expense of their buildings, grounds, and ministry teams to be a financial challenge, so the two churches began working together to become one. The process was challenging, yet extremely rewarding as the separate church bodies became stronger together.

In our current church building, you’ll find aspects of both the South Eliot and East Eliot churches – first and foremost in its people, with members from the original churches still active in the church community today.
