We believe we are called to be the hands and feet of Christ in our church, in our community, and in the world! We believe we are called to serve boldly in this world, not just in our community with our ongoing mission outreach programs, but at both the national and international level as well. We partner with One Heart Mission to take mission trips to a variety of places.
In 2013, 2014, and 2016, we traveled to Guatemala, working through mission organization Salud Y Paz, to administer health care in rural villages and provide construction services at the mission site.
In August 2016, we are sending a team to the Red Bird Mission in an isolated part of Kentucky. Working with the Global Board of Ministries of the United Methodist Church, we will help with education, community outreach, economic opportunities, medical services, and upgrading below-standard housing.
In April 2015, we traveled to the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. Through the Tree of Life Ministry there, we served the Lakota and Dakota people, the poorest racial group of people in the nation.
Our youth, along with adult leaders, went to a United Methodist ARMY site in New England for a week during the summers of 2014 and 2015. Plans are underway for another trip this summer! UM ARMY is an acronym which stands for United Methodist Action Reach-Out Mission by Youth. The UM ARMY’s mission is “To provide Christ-centered quality youth work camps that serve people in need and promote spiritual growth and leadership development in youth.”
We were a UM ARMY Work Site in 2014 and 2015, and will do it again in 2016: These capable and faithful youth work in the Eliot Community to support the needs of Eliot home owners. It is an opportunity for youth, college students and adults to experience Christian growth through mission, worship and fellowship. Participants combine their strengths to meet home repair and maintenance needs of those unable to help themselves.
United Way of the Seacoast Day of Caring: we often partner in mission support the United Way Day of Caring. Teams have been comprised of Eliot United Methodist Church members and friends, members of the AME Zion Church in Newington, NH, and members of the Eliot community. It is great fun to support a local area non-profit and serve together!
